History, Vision, Faculty & Infrastructure
The Manipur Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya had been established by our Gurus who are no more now. In the very month of August of Indian Independence i.e. on 31-08-1947 these gurus set up an organization named the Manipur Sanskrit Parishad under Registration No. 1176/SR/1973. This organization subsequently established the Manipur Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya in the year 1982. Under the overall endeavor of Shri R.K. Sharma, then the Director of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Santhanam, New Delhi this Mahavidyalaya (College) was affiliated to this Sangsthan. From then on, this Mahavidyalaya have been continuously running. The Indian parliament had passed a Bill and altered the name of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthanam, New Delhi as Central Sanskrit University, Delhi which is still existing.
The Manipur Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya has now acquired a land under the Patta no. 1599. This institution has a building with 10 rooms and another kuccha building of 5 rooms with attached washrooms. But construction of 5 rooms in the first building of 10 rooms is still remaining incomplete. Moreover, the boundary fencing of this institution is yet to be taken up. This proves a continued hazard to the institution.

About 15 teachers are teaching in this institute and the classes are from 9 to Archarya. The objective is to run like a general college. The subjects taught are: - Sanskrit Grammar, Sanskrit literature, Jyotish, Pourohityam (Karamkandam), English literature, Manipuri literature, Political science, Geography and Computer science etc.

This Mahavidyalaya has been producing Shastri (B.A.), Acharya (M.A.) each year continuously. Moreover, the following scholars won gold medals in the subject of Pourohityam (Karmakanda) in the examinations of Acharya (M.A.) taken by the Central Sanskrit University. They are as follows: -

So far, each year this institution has been producing not less than 10 Shastri (B.A.) and 10 Acharya (M.A.). In the North eastern India, this Manipur Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya is remaining a unique and shining institute.
